In long-term care since 1978, I started as a part-time provider and then assumed other roles, such as full-time dispensing pharmacist, general manager for a large portion of territory in the state of Pennsylvania, and consultant pharmacist, the latter throughout my entire career. Since 1991, I have exclusively been a consultant pharmacist.
I am the owner of BGS Consulting, a company involved in long-term care pharmacy consulting. My own consulting philosophy is resident-centered management of medication-related problems. I strive to ensure the each patient's therapy is appropriate, effective, and safe. Being proactive, I identify, resolve, and prevent medication-related problems for my patients.
I have been a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists since 1986 and a Fellow of that organization since 1988. In 1998, I attained the highest level of consultant pharmacist: Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (CGP). Currently, the CGP is the highest level of educational distinction for a consultant pharmacist. It signifies my commitment to providing the best pharmaceutical care to my patients as part of their health-care team.
I work with your physician to help you achieve the most effective, efficient medication regimen for your individual needs. I strive to provide you with the highest quality drug choice for the least cost possible, with the least amount of medications and the lowest number of doses (pills) possible. I can provide drug information and education to you, your family, and caregivers.
I also specialize in patients with behaviors, dementia, and falls as potential medication-related problems. My goal is to keep you at home as long as possible and help you manage your disease states and medication regimen to achieve that goal.
